The seventeenth Angel, Tabris appears in a human form namely Kaworu Nagisa. He contains the soul of Adam and he appear to be the strongest Angel of all. Kaworu is sent over in the pretext of a replacement pilot for Asuka Langley. He developed a very strong relationship with Shinji Ikari along the period. Kaworu possessed the most powerful AT Field ever detected which is powerful enough to block out anything and everything and he could gain control of any Evangelion unit as he wishes.
In the attempt to reach Terminal Dogma to find the first Angel,Adam, Kaworu controls EVA-02 to fight against Shinji Ikari in EVA-01 while Kaworu proceed to the Terminal Dogma. He was surprised to discover that the Angel in the Terminal Dogma is not Adam but is Lilith instead. Unwilling to destroy mankind by causing the Third Impact, Kaworu askes Shinji to kill him.
